Discover Music: Discover Life's (DMDL) mission is to enhance student academic achievement and life skills through supportive mentoring and by developing and implementing standards-based curricula.
Using a direct instructional approach that connects everyday life to music, the DMDL "arts based" curriculum helps students improve perceptive listening, critical thinking and creative participation skills. Through practical application and integrated, standards-based content, the curriculum addresses national and state goals for reading, math and fine arts.
DMDL teaching methodology is student-centered. One that uses of a variety of activities, allowing each child to receive skill-appropriate instruction specific to his/her learning style. DMDL uses small-group dynamics to encourage reluctant learners and build confidence in the cooperative experience.
Our continuum of services includes academic Tutoring and Counseling, Parent Involvement and Professional Development opportunities, and a vast array of Fine Arts enrichment programs and services.
DMDL personnel, comprised of highly qualified, professional teaching artists and academic instructors, are required to complete methods courses and ongoing professional development.
